A delegation from the Kansas Department of Commerce visited the UK Pavilion on Monday to build on existing trade links between the two areas.

Randi Tveitaraas Jack from Kansas Department of Commerce, Peter Prowse from State of Kansas Europe Office and Patrick French from Wichita Chamber of Commerce were shown around exhibitors, including Cobham and BAE Systems, by SBAC.

Prowse says: "There are a lot of exhibitors at the air show who are doing business in Kansas or would like to do business - we're here to make contact with them.

Operations

"Kansas representatives have been coming to this and other trade shows for many years but this year we are making a special effort to make contact with UK companies."

Kansas is a centre of aircraft production in the US. BAE Systems has operations in the state and Airbus UK has a design centre there. Jack says: "Kansas has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with British regional aerospace organisation, the North West Alliance, and we are trying to improve links with the country."

The UK aerospace industry is the largest aerospace industry in Europe and the second largest in the world after the US. The UK Pavilion contains more than 110 companies and seven regional trade associations.
