Buoyed by a strong start in January, Siberian carrier Kras Air is targeting double-digit annual growth rate going forward.

In the first month, its traffic shot up 49% to 105,000 passengers while financial turnover rose 45% compared with the year before.

Last year the carrier posted a 17% traffic increase to 1.44 million passengers, of which almost 900,000 were flown on scheduled routes. It ascribes that growth mainly to extending a hub-and-spoke route system centred on its home base.

Another benefit of the hub-and-spoke strategy is that the number of carriers using Krasnoyarsk airport doubled to 44 in the high season of 2003.
