L-3 Aeromet has won a $3 million contract under the US Missile Defense Agency's Airborne Infrared Surveillance project to demonstrate the military utility of the Heimdall-IR surveillance system aboard the company's High Altitude Laboratory. The modified Gulfstream IV carries precision electro-optic/infrared and radiometric sensors to track missile tests.
