Sir - I have read of the proposed return of Freddie Laker to UK air space. If he is expecting to be welcomed back as a hero, I assure you this will not be the case.
As an ex-employee of Laker, I recall 1982 as a year of hardship and misery, as do most other employees and creditors in the Gatwick area. Some of us are lucky enough to now hold positions with long-established companies who have had the guts to weather hard times and still treat us responsibly, and with dignity and respect.
The last thing I want to see is Laker eating my lunch once again.
