Citing an increase in cargo market demand, LAN Cargo plans to add three Boeing 767-300Fs and a new 777F to its fleet.
The company has taken delivery of one leased 767, followed by the second this month. LAN Cargo expects to accept delivery of the third leased 767 in January.
LAN Cargo has also exercised a 777F option, and plans to take delivery of the new aircraft during the fourth quarter of 2012. Flightglobal's ACAS database shows that LAN Cargo only has a single 777F option. LAN Cargo now expects to take delivery of two 777Fs during the second half of 2012.
By the end of 2012, LAN Cargo, including its affiliates ABSA in Brazil and MAS Air in Mexico, will operate eight 767-330Fs, four 777Fs and four 767s leased from a third party, says the company.
Once the three 767s are operating, LAN Cargo estimates its freight capacity should expand by 15% in 2011.
For the first none months of 2010 LAN Cargo recorded an income of $910.6 million, a 48.4% increase year-over-year, which the company largely attributes to a 28.2% rise in traffic.
