Following a thaw in government-airline relations, Argentina's transport ministry has granted LAN Argentina 34 new domestic and international routes. LAN has not yet announced when it will launch service on most of these routes, but it plans to launch in November a double daily flight to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and convert its thrice-weekly Miami flights to daily and add seasonal service to Punta Cana. LAN has also added a second and third daily Santiago-Rio flight to exploit problems at Varig.
