Lancair has selected an AvroTec multifunction display with Avidyne software for its Columbia 300 light aircraft. The four seat, all-composite Columbia 300 is planned to be certificated in the fourth quarter of 1998.

AvroTec will supply the 265mm-diagonal, full-colour, flat panel display, with the control unit integrated into the centre armrest. The system will be driven by Avidyne software, providing moving map, flight planning and lightning detection display functions.

Digitised charts will be overlaid with electronic depictions of flightpath, airways, airspace, navigation aids and airports, automatically positioned relative to the aircraft. An internal database will allow flight planning, and the system will be linked to a remote-mounted BFGoodrich Stormscope WX-500 lightning sensor.
