A team comprised of Boeing, Lockheed Martin and TRW has won a $125 million contract for the Space Based Laser integrated flight experiment. The award is the first for a programme potentially worth $3 billion. The work includes developing a high energy laser architecture and studying cost-effective ballistic missile defence.
