NASA is continuing to plan the fourth and final Hubble Space Telescope (HST) servicing mission, set for February 2004, with the award to Lockheed Martin of a contract, worth $123 million, to provide new systems for the observatory. The HST will be fitted with a Cosmic Origins Spectrograph and the third Wide Field Camera. The last of the three original Fine Guidance System units will also be replaced. The last servicing mission, which involved a $178 million upgrade, was conducted in February.
