The US Air Force Defence Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) F16, Block 5D-3 satellite was finally launched aboard the thirteenth and final refurbished Titan ICBM satellite launcher from Vandenberg AFB, California, on 19 October, nearly three years later than planned. Satellite and booster problems had delayed the launch. Fourteen Titan IIs were refurbished, but the final vehicle is not being used. The SLC-4W launch pad at Vandenberg will now be dismantled.
