Sikorsky and Bell are again battling it out for $35 million in US State Department funding for extra helicopters to be supplied to Colombia. The helicopters are needed to secure a strategic oil line from guerrilla attacks, with Bell offering 10 upgraded UH-1H Huey 2s and Sikorsky two UH-60 Black Hawks, plus spares and training. Colombia has one of the region's largest helicopter fleets with 62 UH-60s and 63 Huey 2s already delivered to the army, air force and national police.
