LFK GmbH is the prime contractor for the European licensed production of the low-level air defence system Stinger and partner to the industries of the four participating nations: Germany, Greece, the Nether-lands and Turkey.

The configuration on show at Le Bourget is that proposed for the German Air Force.

To satisfy the four nations' demand, approximately 12,500 Stinger guided missiles will be manufactured by the year 2000.

Part of Daimler-Benz Aero-space, LFK GmbH is affiliated to Dasa's Defence and Civil Systems business. It is now studying adaptations to the light, portable Stinger for different land-based, seaborne and airborne platforms.

These are expected to include remote control, radar coaching, radio equipment and thermal imager.
