A Bombardier Learjet 35 crashed into the Poquonnock river near Groton, Connecticut, USA, last week, killing two crew on board. The aircraft, operated by AirEast on behalf of its owner, took off from the Long Island airport at Farmingdale, New York, about 160km (100 miles) north-east of New York City and was positioning to Groton-New London airport to pick up passengers for a flight to Buffalo, New York. The crash occurred at around 06:50 under clear skies, 750m (2,460ft) short of the runway, and the aircraft struck three houses before plunging into the river.
