BOMBARDIER HAS posted a 20% increase in group revenues and a 28% increase in net income, for its financial year to the end of January, but says that "a weaker-than-expected performance" at US business-jet manufacturer Learjet reduced profits from aerospace.

The Canadian group had net profits of C$308.8 million ($227 million), on revenues of C$7.1 billion in 1995.

Bombardier chairman Laurent Beaudoin says that sales in all business segments were higher in 1995, and all were profitable, but adds that Learjet's performance "...impacted the contribution of aerospace to net income".

Learjet increased sales in 1995, but has yet to achieve the profitability expected by Bombardier. Profits at de Havilland, where production of the Dash 8 regional airliner increased during 1995, are improving. Canadair continues to be the company's most profitable aerospace division.
