Liberty Aerospace expects to begin deliveries of its XL2 later this month after finally achieving instrument flight rules approval for the two-seat piston single, almost 18 months after receiving US type certification and seven years after beginning development. Melbourne, Florida-based Liberty says it has close to 70 orders for the $156,000 XL2, including five for new Kendell-Tamiami, Florida-based flight school Phases of Flight.
