Liberty Aerospace has clinched 50 orders for its XL-2 all-composite piston single, selling all the aircraft in its Founder Club Scheme, which offered initial aircraft at $85,000. The instrument flight rules-equipped aircraft, now priced at $97,000, has resumed flight testing at its Montrose, Colorado base. The duration of the flights have been extended to allow further checks on the flight control system and the impact of engine performance at high density altitude. The two-seat aircraft is lined up for US certification in the fourth quarter and first deliveries soon after.
