French start-up manufacturer Lisa Airplanes has launched a two-seat amphibious ultra-light aircraft and plans to develop a six-seat, turbine-powered version for the private flyer and leisure travel markets.
The two-seat Akoya, said to be the first aircraft designed to "operate from land, water and snow", is set to make its first flight next month, followed by an unveiling at the Aero 2007 general aviation show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The manufacturer is developing the Akoya with high-tech company Savoy Technolac.
The aircraft is powered by a 100hp (75kW) Rotax 912S. It has a removable folding wing, integral safety parachute and range of 1,500km (810nm), maximum cruise speed of 160kt (300km/h) and maximum take-off weight of 495kg (1,090lb). Certification and first deliveries are planned for the fourth quarter of the year and early 2008 respectively.
Erick Herzberger, co-founder of the Chambery-based company, says Lisa will launch the turbine version within three years to compete with very light jets.
