The US Marine Corps is to test the Israeli-built Rafael Litening targeting and navigation pod on its Boeing AV-8B Harriers. Test flights are scheduled to begin before the end of this month.
Rafael and US partner Northrop Grumman will also offer the Litening in a US Air Force competition for 100 pods forF-16s.Atender is expected by the end of the year. Litening is due to enter US service with the Air National Guard next month, on Lockheed Martin F-16s.
Litening has been selected by Germany, India, Israel, Venezuela and an unidentified air force.
