Airbus will release its delayed market forecast in the ‘next few weeks' after spending the last few months re-crunching the numbers in the light of September's terrorist attacks on the USA.

Over the long term the overall forecast remains relatively unchanged, even slightly more optimistic than previous reports, says Airbus vice-president market forecasts Adam Brown in an interview with ATI at Asian Aerospace.

But in the short term significantly fewer orders are expected, says Brown, while politely parrying all requests to reveal specific figures ahead of the forecast's release, probably in March.

Airbus is still looking at around 4,400 aircraft being delivered in Asia over the next 20 years, with Japan likely to account for a greater slice than was expected prior to September, says Brown. North America is seen ordering substantially fewer aircraft.
