Lockheed Sanders has been awarded an initial $97.6 million contract to begin engineering and manufacturing development of the US Army's advanced threat infra-red countermeasure (ATIRCM) common missile warning system. The system is a passive airborne countermeasure and self-protective device, which will be used to shield US Army helicopters from missiles with infra-red and radio-frequency-seekers.
