Lockheed Martin is to provide C-130J training systems and services in a contract tied to the multi-year procurement of 60 aircraft for the USAir Force and Marine Corps. The deal, potentially worth up to $287 million, covers eight extra trainers, instruction and support to sustain the USAF's C-130J force until 2010.

CAE will provide the training devices under a subcontract potentially worth over $100 million, as an extension to Lockheed Martin's contractor-operated and supported C-130J maintenance and aircrew training system (MATS). This covers three extra weapon system trainers (WST), another integrated cockpit systems trainer, a flight controls trainer, two engine propeller trainers and a second fuselage trainer.

Two C-130J WSTs, each with Flight Safety Vital-9 visuals, were ordered under previous MATS contracts. The first is installed at Keelser AFB, Mississippi; the second is for Little Rock, Arkansas. An avionics system management trainer, a cockpit procedures trainer, and the first integrated cockpit systems and fuselage trainers are also on order.
