Japan's JSAT has selected Lockheed Martin to build its next geostationary communications satellite, JCSAT-11, which will be stationed in orbit as a back-up for other satellites after its launch, which is scheduled to take place in 2007. Based on Lockheed’s A2100AX platform, the satellite will carry high-power Ku-band and C-band medium-power transponders.
