The Singapore Airlines Group is eliminating hundreds of jobs as it seeks to cut costs in the face of competition from low-cost airlines and airport services providers. The group plans to eliminate around 70 finance division jobs after deciding to outsource some revenue accounting work. It also plans to outsource IT infrastructure functions this year. It says that move will affect around 130 employees. Ground handling and in-flight catering subsidiary Singapore Airport Terminal Services has laid off 108 employees and is outsourcing jobs. Another outsourcing programme will affect 1,064 employees in the airport services and in-flight catering divisions.
