Lufthansa will equip 78 widebody aircraft with Connexion by Boeing broadband connectivity, with operations to start in the first half of 2004, hopefully in March, according to Burkard Wigger, general manager of Lufthansa's Project FlyNet. During Lufthansa's three-month trial of the system, 50-80 passengers on average used the service simultaneously.

Scott Carson, president of Connexion by Boeing, expects an estimated 20% of passengers on board a Connexion-equipped aircraft to use the broadband Internet services at maturity.
