Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental launch customer Lufthansa operated the first commercial flight with the new aircraft today from Frankfurt to Washington DC Dulles.
Flight LH416 departed Frankfurt at 09:50 and landed at Washington DC after a flight time of 7h 58 min, with 313 passengers and 20 crew members on board.
The return flight on the 747-8I is scheduled to depart Washington DC today at 17:55 and arrive in Frankfurt tomorrow at 08:05.
Lufthansa will operate the aircraft on the route six times a week initially. The airline's 747-8Is are configured with 362 seats in three classes: eight in first class, 92 in business and 262 in economy.
The Star Alliance carrier also debuted its new business class product, featuring lie-flat seats, on the flight.
