Lufthansa has received its first Airbus A340-600 and will begin operating the aircraft on Frankfurt-Buenos Aires services on 15 December. The first of 10 Rolls-Royce Trent 556-powered A340-600s on firm order was delivered last week and is being used for pilot training. Lufthansa says introduction of the type has been delayed by a week due to late delivery, and that future timetables are also "open" to allow for flexible delivery dates. The 335-seat A340-600 will replace a Boeing 747-400 on the 11,480km (6,200nm) non-stop Argentinian route.
