Lufthansa has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Shanghai Airlines that is expected to lead to a codeshare agreement. The deal with the second-largest carrier based in Shanghai after China Eastern Airlines gives another Star Alliance carrier a tie to a Chinese airline. Japan's All Nippon Airways already has connections with Shanghai Airlines.
