Airbus and Lufthansa Technik this morning signed the contract for the tenth A318 Elite VIP completion of the smallest member of the A320 family.

The contract, covering the fifth aircraft to be delivered to Swiss charter operator Comlux Aviation, bears the signatures of Airbus’s Arnaud Martin, head of the A320-family corporate and VIP programme, and executive and private aviation vice-president Richard Gauna, and Lufthansa Technik’s Walter Heerdt, senior vice-president for sales and marketing.

“It took us just four months to get the first A318 Elite for Comlux off the completion line,” said Heerdt. “Now preparations are under way to provide two dedicated lines. With more than 20 Elite now ordered, it’s clear that the market was ready for a standardised VIP interior that’s available at shorter notice and a very competitive price.”

Other features include intelligent LED lighting with pre-programmed settings for work, dining and sleep, and four LCD screens measuring from 510mm (20in) to 1,066mm (42in) for in-flight entertainment.
