Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) has completed a heavy maintenance check on a Swiss International Air Lines Airbus A340-300.

This is the first time that the airline has sent an aircraft to the Manila-based Lufthansa Technik subsidiary for maintenance work.

The maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company has performed a D1 check and cabin modification, which involved installation of flat bed seats in business class and the reduction of economy class seats to accommodate the wider new business class seats.

This modification brings the seat configuration to eight first class seats, 47 business class seats and 164 economy class seats.

LTP had earlier provided base maintenance services for the Airbus A330 and A340 fleets of the airlines under the Lufthansa Group: Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and British Midland International (BMI).
