UK-operated Westland Lynx helicopters in four variants flew more than 2,900h during Operation Telic, the UK's participation in the Iraq War. Westland says serviceability of the 34 Lynxs deployed averaged 75%. Lynx HAS3s and HMA8s were deployed aboard Royal Navy warships, while AH7s and AH9s operated alongside 16 Air Assault Brigade and 3 Commando Brigade. Over 100 Raytheon BGM-71 TOW anti-armour missiles were fired and modifications included sand filters, communications, radar and air traffic systems, defensive-aids suites and night-vision goggle-compatible cockpit systems.
