The Macedonian minister of defence Vlado Buckovski and Croatian minister of defence Zeljka Antunovic have signed an agreement aimed at improving and expanding military co-operation between the air forces of the two Balkan countries.

In 2004, Croatian Mi-24 pilots will visit the Petrovec air force base in Macedonia to receive training on Macedonian Mi-24V Hind E helicopters operational with the 201 Anti Armour Helicopter Squadron. In exchange, recently graduated Macedonian air force pilots will visit Zadar-Zemunik air base in Croatia to receive basic training on Bell 206B JetRanger III helicopters operational with the 3 Helicopter Training Squadron. The Macedonian Mi-24V Hind-E is based at Petrovec air force base, near Skopje. The Macedonian air force operates 10 Mi-24V Hind-Es and two Mi-24K Hind-G2s.
