The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has put into service its first stretched C-130H-30 Hercules after the aircraft was modified by Airod, using a kit supplied by Lockheed Martin Air Mobility Support. The kit extends the C-130H's cargo deck to 17.1m (56ft) by adding 4.58m in two fuselage plugs, one forward and one aft of the wing. Cargo volume is increased by 32%. A second RMAF aircraft is being modified by Airod at Subang near Kuala Lumpur. Work on a third aircraft is due to begin in September next year and a fourth in March 2004, says Airod.
