Malaysia’s Layang Layang Helicopters has won a contract from the Sabah government to operate aeromedical services into remote areas of eastern Malaysia.

Layang Layang marketing director Cliff Fournier says the company, which is part-owned by Malaysian helicopter distributor Solaire Systems, will take delivery of a Eurocopter BO105 on 1 November equipped with a stretcher to perform the new contract. The company will also use its fleet of two Bell 206 JetRangers.

The contract includes providing emergency aeromedical evacuation from remote villages and flying in doctors and medical staff. Kota Kinabalu-based Layang Layang also operates a Robinson R44 on tourist flights and offers third-party maintenance services from a hangar in Miri, Sarawak.
