The UK’s Manchester Airport and Swedish Air Navigation Service provider LFV were awarded IATA Eagle Awards at the association’s annual meeting yesterday. The awards honour outstanding achievements by airports and air traffic providers in terms of value for money, efficiency improvements and customer service.
Manchester was given an Eagle for its high performance level agreed in service level agreements with carriers and because it has reduced the average cost per passenger over the past four years by 38%.
An efficiency drive that has enabled LFV to lower its unit rate by 17% in 2006 caught the attention of the IATA Eagle Awards panel. It has achieved average annual reductions of 6.6% in each of the past four years.
IATA also gave special recognition to the Performance Review Commission of Eurocontrol which provides a “strong, transparent and independent performance review and target-setting system for the 36 Eurocontrol states”.
