INVISION Technologies is to supply Manchester Airport in the UK with ten explosive-detection systems.

All ten of the CTX 5000 systems are expected to be integrated into Manchester's baggage-handling system by March 1996.

The purchase will allow the airport to comply with UK requirements that 100% of checked baggage on all international flights leaving the UK be screened by the end of 1996.

The CTX 5000, which was approved for use by the US Federal Aviation Administration late in 1994, is a "computed- tomography" system which can be used to differentiate explosive material from the other contents of passengers' bags (Flight International, 8-14 February).
