Pratt & Whitney Canada has signed up Raytheon Aircraft as its developmental partner on the PW625F turbofan demonstrator for its proposed PW600 family of small turbine engines for business and general aviation aircraft. The companies are defining requirements for the 2,500lb- (11.1kN) thrust demonstrator engine, which will run in the fourth quarter, with the first flight set for early 2002. A PW600F in the 6-11kN range could be certificated within 36 months of formal programme launch.
