The Swedish Space Corporation has signed a contract with the Polish maritime office in Gdynia for two new MSS 5000 maritime surveillance systems.

The systems will be installed in PZL M28 aircraft and operated by the Polish navy. The maritime office is responsible for environmental surveillance in the Polish area of the Baltic Sea.

The MSS 5000 concept includes integrating the Sideways Looking Airborne Radar (SLAR), cameras and other sensors with a digital map database to give an overview of the area under surveillance.

Other improvements include increased SLAR coverage, real time geocorrection of sensor images and flexible transfer of reports to the ground.
