Korean Air has placed firm orders for two Pratt & Whitney PW4000-powered Boeing 747-400 freighters for delivery in 2002. Edelweiss Air has received its Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-powered Airbus A330-200, on lease from CIT Aerospace. The aircraft is the first A330 to be delivered to the US lessor. Canada's WestJet Airlines has received a preliminary commitment from the US Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank to provide guarantees covering $744 million worth of financing for up to 26 Boeing 737-700s on firm order. The commitment represents 85% of the list price of the aircraft on firm order. International Lease Finance has confirmed a $5 billion Airbus order for 18 A319s, 27 A320s, 17 A321s and 20 A330-200s for delivery between 2002 and 2008. The deal takes Airbus orders beyond 4,000. Monarch Airlines has confirmed its order for five International Aero Engines V2500-powered Airbus A321s, for delivery from 2002. Flight International's sister on-line service Air Transport Intelligence reports that Aeropostal of Venezuela is to order two CFM International CFM56 Airbus A320s for delivery in 2003 and place options on two more in a deal scheduled to be signed next month.
