-Hawaiian Airlines has purchased two McDonnell Douglas DC-9-50s from the Italian airline Meridiana, for delivery in February. The airline already operates 13 DC-9-51s on its inter-island route network, and is exempt to the US Stage 2 phase-out noise legislation that takes full effect at the end of 1999, because Hawaii is not part of the contiguous USA.

-Air New Zealand is leasing a new General Electric CF6-80C2B6F-powered Boeing 767-300ER from International Lease Finance (ILFC), for delivery in March 2000 on an initial five-year term.

-Singapore Airlines (SIA) has taken delivery of its first two Boeing 777-300s, with two more due for delivery in January. SIA has orders for seven Rolls-Royce Trent 800-powered 777-300s, placed as part of its firm order for 30 777s in 1995. The airline already has 10 smaller -200s in service and a further 13 on order.

-Thai Airways International has taken delivery of its first of six 777-300s, which are equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engines.

-US leasing company AeroCentury has purchased a Fokker 50 operated by VLM from an affiliate of Lazard Fréres.

-Fortis Aviation has delivered the first two of 10 ex-CCAir British Aerospace J31s to Transportation Locators of Tulsa, and are all being remarketed by Washington DC-based de Havilland Aircraft.

-Boeing has delivered the last six of a batch of 737s to Garuda Indonesia, after the manufacturer provided bridge financing to the cash-strapped airline. The delivery includes three 737-300s and three -500s. Garuda originally ordered 17 737s in 1996, but six were recently placed with other carriers after the Indonesian carrier found it could no longer afford them.

-Korean Air has taken delivery of three Boeing 747-400s, including one freighter, and a 777-200 (all-Pratt & Whitney PW4000-powered). The 777-200 has been secured via a sale and lease-back agreement with Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise.
