-Malaysia Airlines has finalised a deal to sell two General Electric CF6-80C2-powered Boeing 747-400s to Qantas. The airline is still looking to dispose of three other 747s.

-The El Al board of directors has now approved the purchase of two Pratt & Whitney PW4060-powered 767-200ERs from Air France, and the airline is negotiating the last details of the $86 million deal, with deliveries planned for 1999.

-Croatia Airways has switched one of its six Airbus A319 orders to an A320.

-Eastern Airlines of Mongolia has acquired an ex-All Nippon Airways NAMC YS-11 which has been in storage for 12 months.

-Emirates has placed an order for one additional Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered Airbus A330-200.

-Meridiana has acquired two ex-Far Eastern Air Transport (FAT) Boeing MD-82s. A third FAT MD-82 has been acquired by Spirit Airlines.

-THY Turkish Airlines has leased two ex-THY Boeing MD-90-30s from the manufacturer.

-Frontier Airlines will add a Stage 3-hushkitted Boeing 737-200Adv in mid-October on lease from Interlease Aviation Investors to replace an older 737-200 in its fleet.

-Bill Elliott Racing, a US motor racing team, has acquired a secondhand Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia, while its sister company, Grand Aviation, has acquired two examples. The three 28-seat ex-Jetstream International Airlines aircraft will be used as corporate shuttles to transport racing teams to events around the USA. Embraer is apparently aiming to sell up to eight more Brasilias to US racing teams.

-Transavia has extended its wet lease contract with Trasvalair for an Airbus A310-300 to the end of September. The aircraft has been in operation with Transavia throughout the summer to cover for the late arrival of new 737-800s from Boeing.

-LanChile will take a new GE-powered Boeing 767-300F in late 1998 with the acquisition of an aircraft originally bound for Asiana.
