Air Luxor has purchased a second Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 from Novair, in a deal arranged by Cabot Aviation. The disposal of Novair's last TriStar 500 is being finalised. Cathay Pacific is understood to be in discussions with Boeing over acquiring the original Boeing 777-200 test aircraft which is in storage at the manufacturer's Everett plant. The six-year-old aircraft was originally powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000s, but would be re-engined with Rolls-Royce Trents for Cathay. Air Algerie has ordered two more Raytheon Beech 1900Ds, bringing its order book to four. Miami-based BPI Aerospace has purchased two 30-year-old, ex-TWA, Boeing 747-100s for spare parts, in a deal arranged by Fortis Aviation.

Air Transport Intelligence (ATI) reports that Air Caledonie International has leased a Pratt & Whitney PW4156A-powered Airbus A310-300 from the manufacturer ahead of the launch of long-haul services to Japan. The A310 has been acquired on a three-year lease, says
ATI, after which a new A330 is expected to be acquired. Air Madagascar has leased a 14-year-old, ex-Transbrasil, Boeing 767-200ER from International Lease Finance (ILFC). The General Electric CF6-80A2-powered aircraft is on an initial 14-month lease with extension options. Tunis Air has leased a 10-year-old, GE CF6-80C2-powered Airbus A300-600R from Emirates. British Airways franchise operator British Mediterranean Airways will receive a new International Aero Engines V2500-powered A320 in April on nine-year lease from Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise. ILFC has placed a new Pratt & Whitney PW2037-powered Boeing 757-200 with TACV, for delivery in April 2001 on a five-year lease. Merlin Express is boosting its Fairchild Metro III fleet with the acquisition of six aircraft ordered by Corporate Air, which has taken four options.
