++ Air Caledonie has placed an order for one additional new Aero International (Regional) ATR 42, for delivery before the end of 1997. The airline already flies three ATR 42s. ++ United Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A319-100. The International Aero Engines V2500-A5-powered aircraft is one of 28 A319s the airline has on order. ++ AirKenya has acquired an ex-Atlantic Southeast Airlines de Havilland Dash 7 from The AGES Group. The airline operates a fleet of de Havilland Twin Otters, Douglas DC-3s, Shorts 330s, and a Fokker F27. ++ The CIT Group has purchased two CFM International CFM56-powered Airbus A320-200s from General Electric Capital, which are on lease to Northwest Airlines until 2011. ++ Canadian regional airline Air Niagara has taken delivery of a Fokker F28 Mk1000 on a one-year lease from US Airways. ++ Norfolk, UK, based Prague Trading and Consulting is offering for sale an Ilyushin Il-62 which was previously operated by the president of Czechoslovakia until 1991, and has since been converted to a passenger configuration with a 174-seat interior. The company is seeking £300,000 ($490,000) for the 1975-build aircraft, which has been stored since 1995. ++ Continental Airlines has acquired ten aircraft it had on lease, including six Boeing 737-300s and four McDonnell Douglas MD-82s, with debt financing for the acquisition being funded by the private placement of $155 million of pass-through certificates. The deal is expected to reduce aircraft lease costs by $3 million annually over the next three years, and maintenance expenses. The airline has also purchased an ex-Air Liberté McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30. ++ British World Airlines is disposing of the two AI(R) ATR 72s it operates from Aberdeen on its Shell-oil-worker support flights. It is understood that the airline plans to replace the two aircraft with one of the BAe ATPs it is phasing in later this year.
