Airbus has delivered the first A318, with the handing over of the first of five aircraft that Frontier Airlines has on order. Frontier will also lease two A318s, in May 2004 and March 2005. The CFM International CFM56-powered aircraft is also the 2,000th aircraft of the A320 family to be delivered. Boeing has confirmed that Southwest Airlines is the previously unidentified customer that placed an order for 15 737-700s earlier this year. The deal takes the carrier's firm orders for 737-700s to 261, with deliveries due to begin in 2004.
