Markoss Aviation is set to become the only UK business aircraft charter company to operate Bombardier CRJ regional jets as it gears up to receive two CRJ-200s in February and March next year and a CRJ-900 by July.

Markoss managing director Rob Spence says: "We believe there is demand for this type of aircraft, which is why Markoss is investing significantly for this operation in 2008."

The aircraft will be targeted at the large group transportation market, specifically within the banking, sporting, corporate and entertainment sectors.

"There is tremendous demand for single-class hospitality aircraft, we just wish we could get the aircraft sooner," says Markoss sales manager Trudy Squires.

The CRJ-200s will be equipped with 46 seats and the -900 with 88 seats. "One of the significant selling points of the CRJ will be their low operating costs. If the aircraft are as popular as we anticipate we could add more to our fleet," says Squires. Markoss is also planning to expand its management business next year.
