Marshall Aerospace is aiming to become a much bigger force in UK business aviation following a rebrand of its activities as Jetability.
The Cambridge-based military aircraft modifications specialist wants to rapidly increase its managed aircraft fleet from three to "10 or 12" by offering clients the benefits of a "one-stop shop" that includes maintenance and a fixed-base operation at Cambridge airport, managed by ExecuJet.
Steve Jones, who runs Marshall's business aviation operations, says the company wants to grow its charter business to "be able to operate on a European and eventually a global basis". He adds: "You can't compete with two or three aircraft. We need 10 or 12 quickly. Watch this space over the next couple of months."
Until now, Marshall has run separate charter and maintenance businesses. It also owns Cambridge airport, where its manufacturing facilities are based.
The Jetability brand, says Jones, will help attract clients by marketing a range of services under one roof. "There aren't many companies who can offer this level of service,." he says. "The trouble was, until now, we haven't really been tying it together."
Marshall also wants to tempt customers away from rival airports nearer London. "We make no bones about the fact that we want to pull traffic out of Luton and Stansted," says Jones.
