Malaysia Airlines says the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft that crashed in the eastern Ukraine on 17 July had an unblemished safety record.

All communications were functioning normally, it adds. The jet, which was delivered in 1997, had 75,322 flight hours and 11,434 cycles.
