MATRA MARCONI SPACE (MMS) is to enter the small-satellites market by introducing the Leostar 200 and 500 craft, aimed at operational low-Earth-orbit (LEO) observation and communications missions.
The Leostar 500, in the 500-800kg range, will be well-suited to single-instrument Earth-observation missions, such as one using a radar antenna, says the company. The highly modular bus will have a power capability of up to 1.2kW.
