Trans World Airlines (TWA) has ordered five McDonnell Douglas (MDC) MD-83s for delivery in the second half of 1997 under long-term lease from MDC, with a commitment to lease a further ten by year-end. Brazilian airline VASP has ordered an additional MD-11; Reno Air a third MD-80; an unannounced customer one MD-11; and an unidentified carrier three MD-90s, with options for seven more, contingent on financing.
