Michael Sears has been named as president of Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California, the commercial aircraft unit of McDonnell Douglas (MDC). He succeeds Robert Hood Jr, who will serve as president emeritus of Douglas and retires later this year. Sears was vice-president-general manager of MDC's largest tactical aircraft programme, the F-18 strike fighter. Succeeding Sears is Gerald Daniels, who served as deputy to Sears on the programme.
