Growing demand for larger and long-range aircraft in the Middle East makes the region "fertile ground" for the communication systems offered by ARINC Direct (stand 387), says James Hardie, a director at the company.
Its Connect Communications System offers three capabilities in one portable device: complete ACARS (aircraft communications addressing and reporting system) messaging via an Apple iPad application; high-quality voice using an iPhone or Android device; and managed email. This uses either the Iridium or Inmarsat satellite networks, and allows global connectivity, providing a simple, seamless user experience for both pilots and passengers.
ARINC Direct's new ADConnect app also enables business travellers to stay connected anywhere in the world via their personal smartphones, taking away the need for a dedicated aircraft handset, says Hardie.
The company, via a new partnership with FlightAware, is also offering more options for live tracking information. ARINC Direct customers can access FlightAware's live web-based flight tracking and fleet maps, including streaming live flight and map updates, worldwide en-route navigation data and other maps and overlays. Also included are the possibility to message the aircraft; worldwide position and flightplan display; arrival and departure information; flight history; and airport delay information.
"This is fertile ground for ARINC and we are delighted to be expanding our portfolio of services and resources in readiness for the growth," says Hardie, who adds that the company's capabilities allow it to support "the widest cross-section of customers".
